Merch F. Bowser, 74, known to many as “Fiddler” Bowser died Friday afternoon, October 7, 1949 at 4:45 o’clock, at the home of his son, Stanley Bowser, 1302 Johnston avenue. Mr. Bowser was born at Adrian, June 18, 1875, the son of Harvey and Isabell (Hooks) Bowser. A caretaker by occupation, he tended lawns throughout Kittanning. His wife, Mrs. Mary (Kelley) Bowser preceded him in death on July 1, 1941. Surviving are two sons, Roy Bowser, East Kittanning; Stanley Bowser, Kittanning; two daughters, Mrs. Walter Gray, McKeesport; Mrs. Norman C. Runyan, Cocranton; and the following stepchildren, Albert Himes; Walter Himes and Mrs. Ralph Smith, all of R. D. Worthington. Also surviving are two brothers, Charles Bowser of Girard, Ohio; Hugh Bowser, East Kittanning; a sister, Esther Bowser of East Kittanning; and 14 grandchildren. Friends may call at the home of Mr. Bowser’s son, Stanley Bowser, 1392 Johnston avenue, after 8 o’clock this evening. Funeral services will be held Tuesday afternoon at 2:30 o’clock in the Church of the Nazarene, Rev. Clair D. Walker, pastor of the church will conduct the service. Burial will be made in the family plot in Kittanning cemetery. The Smith funeral home is in charge of arrangements.
