Albert was born in 1861 to Orlando and Eve Bowker.[1] He was christened in 1864[2]

He was the second son of seven children. His father and older brother worked in the coal mines. He was twelve years old when he was severely injured in an explosion at the Astby Deep Pit mine where he worked as a pony driver. He survived for several days before he died on 25 April 1874.

He was buried in Newton, Cheshire on 28 Apr 1874.[3]
