Fred Lee Bowers was born on October 18, 1891, in Obion, Tennessee, United States. He was the son of Erasmus L Bowers (1864–1952) and Minnie Cora Crittendon (1866–1957). [1] [2]

Fred served in the US Army during World War I. He served from 25 June 1918 until 30 May 1919. He shipped out for France on 23 August 1918 aboard the Cardiganshire and served in France with the 28th Division. [3] [4]

Fred (25) married Ruth Clair Haley (24) (born on May 28, 1893, in Obion; daughter of Thomas Cassie Haley and Mary S A (Walker) Haley) on August 1, 1917, in Obion, Tennessee. [5] [6] [7] [8] [9]

Their children were:

  1. Mary Lou Bowers (1922–2017)
  2. Thomas Lee Bowers (1930–1993)
  3. Roland Bowers

Fred died on December 10, 1960, in Memphis, Shelby, Tennessee, aged 69. [10]

He is buried in East View Cemetery, Union City, Tennessee. [11]
