Biography

Thomas Cooper Boville was born the son of William Boville and Mary O'Reilly.[1] On 6 Sep 1905 in Halifax, Nova Scotia, he married Margaret Caroline Tapling Silver, daughter of William N. Silver.[2]

He was educated at the Belfast Model School.[1] After immigrating to Canada in 1874,[3] he was educated at Ottawa Public School and Ottawa Collegiate Institute (now known as Lisgar Collegiate Institute).[1] He earned a BA degree at University of Toronto.[1] He entered the Canadian public service in Jan 1883.[1], eventually serving as Deputy Minister of Finance.[4]

He was enrolled with the militia since 1882,[5] later retiring to Reserve Officer with the rank of captain with the 43rd Duke of Cornwall's Own Rifles.[1] He was a competitive shooter, twice representing Canada at the Bisley Shooting competition.[1] He was invested as a companion of the Order of St Michael and St George in Jan 1912.[1] He was a member of the Rideau Club and the Royal Ottawa Golf Club.[1]

He died in 1948 in Lunenburg, Nova Scotia.[6] and was buried in Fairview Cemetery, Halifax, Nova Scotia.[7]
