Biography

Anna Bossler was a Texan.

Anna Bossler was born in Texas on September 5, 1873 to Johann Christoph Bossler and Emelia Fresinius.^[1][2]

The 1880 US Census tells us that she was living in Lavaca County, TX with her parents and siblings. She was the eldest of the five children. The census shows that her father was a 30-year old farmer born in Wurtemburg, Germany. Her mother was born in Texas and was 27 years old. Her siblings were as follows: Emilie,age 6; Minna, age 3; Amalia, age 2; and William, aged 2 mos.^[3]

On September 5, 1890 at the age of 17 she married Frank Friebel in Austin County, TX. ^[4] By the time of the 1900 US Census they were in Smithville, Lavaca Co., TX. They had five children living... all girls.^[5]

By the 1910 US Census they were living in Nolan, TX and their eldest daughter, Annie was out of the household. Frank continues to farm. ^[6] Ten more years finds them in Gonzales, TX where they are renting their farm. Only the two youngest children are still at home and all but the very youngest are able to read and right.^[7]

By 1930 all of the girls are out of the house and it is just Frank, Anna, and Leroy. They are now in Jim Wells County, where Frank will spend the rest of his life. He owns the farm he works on and it is valued at $4500. ^[8]

Anna passed away on March 14, 1937 in their home town of Orange Grove, TX. She was 63.5 years old and according to her death certificate died of chronic nephritis and uremia.^[1]She is buried at Sons of Hermann Cemetery in Orange Grove, TX. ^[9]
