Hi cousin - First let me thank you for all the help you give to myself and others on this platform. It is a lot of work, and you are greatly appreciated. I can understand how it must be frustrating when us amateurs make changes to the site, but I assure you we are not trying to cause trouble (at least not most of us). I noticed that you are not happy when I used links to my Ancestry tree, and I understand that it is not exactly within WikiTree rules, but I use it primarily as markers to keep from getting lost among the 25K plus profiles I have in my tree. I am currently going back over most of them now, and I will try to delete the links from the profiles you manage. However, if I miss a few, just delete them. However, I would like to leave the Ancestry links in some form or other on the profiles I manage, because it makes it easier for me to reference when somebody has a question. Thanks again and hope all is well for you and yours.

I don't have a problem with ancestry references except that unless you a a person that pays ancestry you can not see the information being referred to. Since I spend a lot of time sourcing unsourced profiles, if I added things to a profile you manage it is because there were no reference links for that profile listed that could be checked by an interested party. Since wikitree considers them unsourced if I add sources that I researched and found, I guess I usually remove the ancestry 'comment'. Maybe you could figure out how to make your ancestry information into a searchable reference. However, I can and will stop removing the ancestry references from unsourced profiles as long as I do not have to answer to having them not be a working reference link when I then remove the unsourced tag from the profile so it no longer appears on an unsourced profile list.

Dear Gale,

I know how frustrating it is to look for a source that says facts that has been pointed to Ancestry and no facts there to be find. Why adding thousands of names if you do not have d.o.b, d.o,d and other sources. I don't care if it comes from Family sources or Ancestry. When I do mine I always include a link in ancestry where I found it and the page numbers. so, if a link doesn't work then you can go and look at the page number and you will find it there. I agree with you. I also remove the link that point to Ancestry and no fact to be find. Let's work together we need to improve the work at some had thousands of name without fact. Gale, you are the best...

Bob,

I understand that you are a hard-worker and want to add lots of name and make them work for you. But for those of us that is trying to keep up with real facts and sources and making sure we have the correct information for the person. If you have facts to show, resources and references that link to your name on ancestry by all means use it. If not have info to show, it is a dead zone. I am committed to help you as much as I can.

My motto is....Do not rely on someone's else work.

Yes! Thank you - I will try my best. Ancestry.com is a hot mess. I do want to avoid that for sure. One of the big problems is the people who transcribe written records into digital data. Ancestry has added data from a source called Geneanet . They also now have 1950 Census reports, but like the older ones, I've noticed a lot of spelling errors. The Gilson side of my family is often written as "Jilson". Luckily The list of family members coincide with with the correctly spelled ones. There is method to my madness of adding a lot of people in my case because I'm attempting to link-triangulate to real living people who have matching DNA. The downside I have found is that there are several different avenues by which people can be linked. The trick is to weed out the real ones. Too often there is little or no data. What do you think of FamilySearch? I was hoping to link to that also.

Hello Lise, I noticed you made edits on the profile for https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Levesque-337.

I wanted to make you aware that you should NOT delete, only add. Also, you completely changed the formatting incorrectly. I made the necessary corrections to the profile and added the categories previously listed back to the profile. May I suggest you take the advice of the previous comment.

Lise,

Please take the time to review the help for Biographies. Every profile should have the Biography and Sources sections (identified with the two equal signs). The references tag should immediately follow the Sources heading. On that help page, you will also find a link to Sources that explains how to format sources.

Hello Lise

It was drawn to my attention that you were changing the current last name on this profile https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Ivori-1 to that of her husband. Please note that women kept their own names in French culture, including New France. See https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Project:Quebecois Québécois project page for guidelines on names and location names, which also apply later. Thank you.

No she did not keep her name. Did you see her marriage certificate, Here's what I am getting to...Antoine Dionne married Catherine Ivory, they had a child name Catherine Dionne not Ivori,( See church amendment that I attached.). Catherine Dionne (not Ivori) married Joseph Michaud. This is my last time about this conversation. if this persist, I will no longer contribute to Wiki Tree... Please read marriage certificates. Lise

hello Lise,

the point is not about her misnaming on her baptism, which was an obvious clerical error, the priest wrote in her mother's name without the father's name. The point is about her name after her marriage. It remains Dionne, not Michaud. See https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Help:Name_Fields#Use_their_conventions_instead_of_ours

Hello Lise, I am Lisa - my mother actually wanted to name me Lise but my father Americanized it. I always regretted that. My godmother is Lise, so I feel we are already connected.

I checked our DNA kits and we share DNA on Ch23, 5,597,613-12,825,823. Cool! I am working on the Acadian section of my tree and am hitting a wall or two. Perhaps you can fill in some blanks?

Thank you for the corrections to Desiree Savoie's information. We knew the name Savoie was French but did not know they came to America from Canada.

I just spent a bit of time reading all the generations and am amazed! I can't thank you enough. I can't wait to show all these to my husband. I never imagined there would still be information dating back to 0300. WOW!

Hi Lise,

Thanks for your message! I recommend the Acadians Project, led by Roland. I'll let him know you're interested!!

Let me know if there's anything else I can do to help. We're glad to have you on board!!

Hi ,

Now that you have had a little time to try WikiTree, there are a few more features you may find useful.

Ideas on what to include in a profile can be found in Styles and Standards, including some tips on writing biographies.

If you need to describe an event, an heirloom or a location relevant to your research, you may like to learn about Free Space Profiles.

Lastly, sometimes you'll run into unresponsive profile managers. We have a process for resolving those unfortunate situations.

If you have any questions, feel free to ask via my profile page. Michelle ~ WikiTree Mentor

Welcome to WikiTree! The initial email from us has helpful links that will get you started on WikiTree, which is not like any genealogy site you’ve ever used.

WikiTree is different because our goal is to have one profile per person, and that means we all work together as a BIG collaborative team!

What brings you to WikiTree? Do you have research you’d like to share? Are you interested in how your family fits into the big tree? When you confirm your email address, you’ll have an opportunity to volunteer and tell us about your genealogical interests.

Once you volunteer, one of our Greeters will be happy to confirm your membership, and you’ll be on your way!

Welcome to the family! We’re really glad you’re here.
