Biography

Oneziphore was born in Iberia Parish, Louisiana in 1840 to Coralie Marie Hayes and Paul Norval Bonin.

BONIN, Michel (Paul & Marie Coralie HAYES) b. 31 Dec. 1840 (NI Ch.: v. 1, p.21)[1]

[2] As a child in 1852, he and his family moved to Texas with a group of about 50 French families. This is described on the historic cemetery marker at Bonin Family Cemetery near Spring, TX.

He married Mary Jane Roach in 1865 [3] and they raised their family in Harris County, TX. [4]

'Deet', as he was called, was part of the Confederate States Army from May 1862 for Texas during the Civil War, until he was discharged in May 1865. [5] After Mary Jane died, he remarried in 1899, to Eugenia Hancock. [6] [7] He passed away in 1923. [8]
