He was the postmaster of Dannevirke since about 1924.[4]
He passed away at Dannevirke on 28 Jul 1928[1] after a brief illness, age 55.[7] He left a widow, one son and one daughter: He had three sisters: Mrs George and Mrs Ford of Waimate, and Mrs Ord of Methven. [4]
Interestingly, although there are dozens of ancestry.com public trees for George and the three girls, there are none for Samuel. Maybe overlooked due to his birth in England? The obituary leaves no doubt this is the right details; it lists his three sisters.
