Biography

Thomas Boland was born in Ireland.

Thomas Francis Boland was born in February 1866 to John Boland and Johanna Eagan in Éire (Ireland).^[1][2][3]

Thomas emigrated with his parents, likely in the 1860s, from Éire to New York City in the United States of America. They settled at 71 Tehana Street in Flatbush, where Thomas' parents ran a dairy farm.^[1][2]

Thomas married Anna Pierce around 1885 in New York City, likely at the family church in Flatbush.^[2][3]

Between 1887 and 1891, Thomas and Annie were living at 593 East 3rd Avenue in Flatbush. Their first son, John, was born in 1887.^[4] Their first daughter, Mary Agnus, was born in 1888.^[5]

In 1892, Thomas and Annie were living in Windsor Terrace, a small, rural village on the outskirts of Flatbush. Their home was at 44 East 2nd Street. Thomas was working as a laborer, likely on the docks.^[2] They had a son, William, in February^[6] and then in November of that year, their daughter, Mary Agnus, died, at only four years old.^[5]

Between 1894 and 1899, Thomas and Annie welcomed four more children to their family: Ellen, James, Anna and Thomas. By 1900, they had moved to 530 18th Street, in Windsor Terrace and Thomas was working as a longshoreman.^[3] They lost their son, William, in September of 1900.^[6]

In January 1904, Thomas and Annie had a son, Michael, however, he only lived a few days. They were living at 549 18th Street at the time of his death.^[7] In April 1905, they welcomed a daughter, Lillian and were living at 345 22nd Street. Thomas was working as a driver.^[8]
