Biography

Nancy was the daughter of John Boggs and his second wife Mary.

She married Benjamin McMechen.

Father's Will

Pickaway Wills 1810-1851 vol 1-3 > image 110 of 607; county courthouses, Ohio. v. 1: 194-7; 19 Oct 1814 In the name of God, Amen. I John Boggs of Pickaway County and State of Ohio, being weak in body, but of perfect sound mind, memory and understanding, do make this my last will and testament in memory, and form following, First, it is my will, and desire that my body shall be decently buried, the management of which I commit to the discretion of my executors herinafter mentioned. Second, after all my just debits is paid, I give and bequeath to my beloved wife Mary, one third part of all my estate, either real or personal, that I may be possess'd of at the time of my decease, for her support, and to make what disposition of as she may think best. Third, It is my will that the ballance of my estate shall be equally divided among my children in the following manner. My son William Boggs to have one equal share. My daughter Lydia who intermarried with Moses Sheppard, to have one equal share. My daughter Martha, who intermarried with Jacob Johnston, to have one equal share. My son John Boggs to have one equal share. My daughter Jane, who intermarried with John Barr, to have one equal share. My daughter Mary who intermarried with John Enyeart to have one equal share. My daughter Nancy who intermarried with Benjamin McMechen to have one equal share. My daughter Elizabeth who intermarried with David Crouce to have one equal share. I hereby appoint my son John Boggs and my stepson Thomas Barr, my executors, of this my last will and testament, hereby revoking all former wills, by me made. In witness where of I have hereunto set my hand and seal this 19th day of October 1814. signed John Boggs Signed, sealed, published, and declared by the said John Boggs to be his last will and testament, in the presence of us, who have hereinto subscribed our names as witnesses, in the presence of the testator. Witnesses: John Emmitt, Samuel Hopkins, James Murphy Affidavits of James Murphy of Logan County, Ohio & Samuel Hopkins of Pickaway County dated in 25th March & 29th May of 1826[1]
