He married Dora Violet Harvey on 30 June 1910[2] at St. Peters Anglican Church, Havelock[3]. The reception was held at the Commercial Hotel. Afterwards the bridal party left by launch for Port Ligar.
Their first born, Charles Bernard James[4], died at three months old[5][6] and in 1914 they lost a daughter at five months[7]. In 1920 they had a stillborn child. Six children survived to adulthood.
He died on 8 January 1950 aged 68 years[8] at Picton, Marlborough, New Zealand. He was buried in Picton Cemetery, Picton, Marlborough, Plot Lawn Block Number 27 Row Number 0 Plot Number 63[9]

I found announcement of the Wedding of Bernard James Boese of Port Ligar to Miss Dora Harvey second daughter of Mr E. Harvey of Elaine Bay. They were married at Saint Peter's church in Havelock.
