EDWARD JOHNSON BOATWRIGHT was born 28 May 1868 in Maysville, Buckingham County, Virginia, and died 20 Apr 1947 in Hamilton County, Texas. He married JIMMIE FLORENCE SCRUGGS 09 Feb 1893 in Hamilton County, Texas, daughter of JAMES SCRUGGS and MARY PINKERTON. She was born 23 Oct 1873 in Hill County, Texas, and died 13 Jan 1907 in Texas.

According to Roger Bates Boatwright's family record dated November 29, 1937, Edward Johnson Boatwright married a Miss Jimmie Scruggs and had 6 children. Jimmie, his wife, died in 1907.
In 1920, Edward is living in Erath County, Texas with his four daughters. The two oldest sons were married.
