Biography

Thibaut Blois was a member of the aristocracy in Europe.

Theobald VI of Blois (French: Thibaut) (died 1218) was count of Blois and Clermont-en-Beauvaisis from 1205 to 1218. He was the son of Louis de Blois and Catherine Clermont.^[1]

Thibaut de Blois married twice: first to Maud of Alençon and 2nd to Clémence des Roches, but he remained childless. After his death, his 2nd wife, Clémence des Roches remarried Geoffrey VI, Viscount of Châteaudun, as her second husband.

A Crusader, Thibaut fought the Moors in Castile, Spain, between 1216 and 1218. During the campaign he contracted leprosy and returned home. After living withdrawn in his chateau at La Ferté-Villeneuil in la Perche (Eure et Loir) for a short while, he died between 16 and 22 April 1218, leaving his possessions to his aunts, Marguerite and Isabelle. The northern sector of the Comté de Blois was made into the Comté de Chartres for Isabelle; Marguerite received the remainder of the Comté de Blois, including the town of Blois. Thibault sold his mother's inheritance: le Comté de Clermont en Beauvaisis (Oise), in Ile de France, to French King Philippe-Auguste before he died.^[2]
