Biography

Jane Blevins Died in Military Service during World War II.

Jane was born in 1922. She was the daughter of Isaac Blevins and Elizabeth Trammell.^[1][2]

Jane completed nurse’s training at Erlanger Hospital in Chattanooga, Tennessee, in May 1943. After serving at Oak Ridge, Tennessee, she entered the Army as a nurse on February 8, 1944. She trained at Denver, Colorado; Amarillo, Texas; and Brigham City, Utah; before joining the China-India-Burma Theater in December 1944. She was one of 25 passengers killed in an airplane crash of a C-47 (serial number 41-18554) at Ledo, India, March 4, 1945.

She was initially buried in the American Military Cemetery at Kalaikunda, India. She was later reinterred June 8, 1948, at the Somerset, Kentucky, Cemetery, in Lot 24, Section 37.^[3]
