Biography
Charles Blakey is a part of US Black heritage.
Charles was born about 1897 in Ruckersville, Virginia. [1]
He enlisted with the 15th New York Infantry on 11 Jun 1917 and was assigned to Company L on 25 Jul 1917. In 1918, the unit was redesignated the 369th US Infantry.[1]
Charles Blakey served in the United States Army in World War I Service started: 11 Jun 1917 Unit(s): 369th Infantry Regiment, Company L Service ended: 19 Jan 1919
He served overseas from 12 Dec 1917 to 19 Jan 1919 and was slightly wounded in action on 28 Sep 1918. Charles participated in engagements at Champagne.[1] He was honorably discharged with 0% disability on 21 Feb 1919.
