Biography

John was the son of William Blackden and Sarah Oaks. His first wife was Martha "Peggy" Blackden/Blagdon.[1] They may have had two daughters, based upon the composition of the family in the 1830 census.

His second wife was Rachel Young. His third wife was Charlotte. He was a farmer.

John is buried at Toothaker Cemetery, Dixmont, Penobscot County, Maine.[2]

Research Notes

He should not be confused with John Blagdon of Penobscot County, Maine, who married Martha Turner of Truro, Massachusetts (daughter of Joseph Turner and Martha Dyer). John Blackden/Blagdon and Martha Turner had at least 3 children - Susan (born about 1806), Samuel (born about 1813), and Caroline (born about 1820), and resided consistently in Penobscot County, Maine. John died before 9 December 1837, when a Deed by Martha (Turner) Blagdon lists her as a widow.[3]
