Emil was born December 5, 1872 in Lerback, Orebro, Sweden. He was a son of Jan Bjurstrom and Carolina (Bjorn) Bjurstrom.[1]
He married Annie Billstrom on June 23, 1898 in Sweden. Born in Skog, Vasternorrland, she was a daughter of Issak Billstrom and Anna Lovisa (Andersdotter) Billstrom.
They moved to Alno in 1898 where Emil worked as a machinist. From there they moved to Alsen in August of 1912 where they lived for an additional two years.
They immigrated to New Brunswick, leaving on April 4, 1906 and settling in Miramichi area. A birth record for his son Robert born in 1919 indicates Emil was then trained as a Blacksmith.[2] Later records identified him as a mill worker or Machinist.
The Bjurstrom family were naturalized as Canadian Citizens in 1915.
Emil and Annie lived in Nordin Parish and raised a large family.
He passed away on March 1, 1945 in Newcastle, New Brunswick and was interred at St. Mark's United Cemetery in Douglastown.[1]
