John and his wife also adopted a daughter into their home, Clarissa Root (1847-1886-), the daughter of William Root and Ann Burghardt, making their home together in Geneseo Township, New York, where John worked as a dry goods merchant.[3][4][5][6][7][8][9][10][11]
John Bishop passed away in Geneseo, New York[citation needed] at the age of 79 and is buried at Temple Hill Cemetery in Geneseo, New York.[12]
