Marion Biggs was a Democratic politician who served two terms as a United States representative from California from 1887 to 1891.[1] The city of Biggs, California is named for Marion Biggs, who first shipped grain by rail from the town's location.[2]
On May 16, 1844, Marion (21) married (Judah) Ann Hawkins (19) from Kentucky.[6] They had 11 children together.[5]
Just three years later, in 1847, Marion's father died in Pike County, Missouri at only 59 years old.
Marion and his family remained in Missouri until moving to Sacremento California in 1864.[6] While living in Missouri, Marion listed his occupation as Farmer, and continued to do that after relocating to California (adding "Farmer and Trader" in the 1880 Census).[7][8][9][10]
