Mary BIGELOW, born July 15, 1779; marrried Dr. Joseph Dix of Worcester [Massachusetts]. The intention of marriage is recorded in Wayland, Massachusetts Dec 27, 1800, she being of East Sudbury, afterwards Wayland. She died Sept 3, 1834. THey had two children:
She was married, on 27 Dec 1800 at Wayland, MA, to Dr. Joseph Dix, son of Elijah and Dorothea (Lynde) Dix. He was a native of Worcester. They lived a few years in Hampden, ME, then returned to Worcester, where he died in 1821.
Mary died 3 Sep 1834 (date also given as 28 Sep).

1. Dorothea Lynde, b Feb 1802 Hampden, ME; d 28 July 1887 Trenton, NJ; unmarried. Miss Dix was well-known as a reformer and philanthropist, devoted to the cause of better treatment of the insane, the criminal, the disabled and the poor.
2. Joseph, b ____ 1806 Hampden, ME; d 22 Feb 1878 Dorchester, MA; m Sarah H. _____ (she d Boston 15 Oct 1881).
3.Charles, b 1810; d 1843; he was a sailor and drowned off the coast of Africa; unmarried.
