We are using the Big Y test from Family Tree DNA to determine the true genetic origins of all people with surnames Becket, Beckett, Bicket and Bickett. There appear to be 3 ancestral sources: (1) Ayrshire, (2) southeast England, and (3) formerly enslaved individuals who have taken on the surname.

Biography
David Bicket's focus is the Bicket/Bickett/Becket/Beckett One-Name Study. On WikiTree, please see the Beckett ONS page (https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Space:Beckett_Name_Study). David has registered these names with the Guild of One-Name Studies (www.one-name.org), and has two linked websites for this ONS hosted by the Guild (https://bicket.one-name.net and https://bicket.one-name.blog). He is also the lead administrator of the Bicket/Bickett/Becket/Beckett DNA study with Family Tree DNA (https://www.familytreedna.com/project-join-request.aspx?group=Bicket). He would appreciate being contacted by anyone with an interest in any of these surnames and variants. He would be particularly interested in hearing from any direct line male descendants of anyone with these surnames and variants, as it is through Y-DNA testing that we are establishing the linkages between many branches of the surname within historical timeframes.
