Hiram Bexell was born in Havant, Hampshire, England.

On 11 October 1840 Hiram married Sarah Gardener at St. Peter-The-Great Church in Chichester, Sussex, England.^[2]

Hiram's wife Sarah passed away about 1841 in Chichester, Sussex, England. She was about 29 years old.

At some point between 1841 and 1871 Hiram married his second wife Harriett Francis.

The 1871 England and Wales Census shows the couple living in Penge, Surrey, England.^[3] Hiram was 58 years old and was working as a Bricklayer.
