Research Note

  1. Keep in mind that in this time span counties were being created from existing counties. In 1860 Webster was formed from Braxton, Lewis and Randolph, therefore, Margaret was most likely born in Braxton County where her parents lived in 1856 and was living in the same home when she married William Hutchinson Boggs. She was the sister of Mary M Berry Hardman, my great grandmother. Margaret Berry and Mary M Hardman were living in Braxton County in 1870.[27]
  2. Ora Summers Boggs Shock's husband Worthy Preston Shock was a lumberman and died September 12 1926 in Ireland, Lewis County, West Virginia.[28] They were the parents of Worthy Preston Shock Jr born April 14 1924 and died April 28 1995.[29] Ora and her son are found on the 1930 and 1940 censuses cited above living with her parents.
