Indicates that Margaret and Anselm were married between 1261 when her first husband (Sir John FitzMatthew) died, and October of 1265 when she was pardoned for marrying Anselm before she had obtained a licence. (Footnotes [14] & [15])

Margaret -(1) John FitxMatthew and (2) Ansel Basset

Source: Richardson, Douglas. Royal Ancestry: A Study In Colonial And Medieval Families, in 5 vols. (Salt Lake City, Utah, 2013). Vol., I, page 325.

Margaret De Berkeley, married (1st) John Fitz Matthew, Knt. They had one son, Matthew, and one daughter, Joan (wife of Walter Beke). Margaret, married (2nd) in 1265 Anselm Basset, Knt. They had issue.

Thank you!

“They were both living 4 May 1320.” Richardson's Plantagenet Ancestry (p 247)... in reference to Margaret (Berkeley) and her 2nd husband Reynold Russell (or Rosel), who were married before 5 April 1299. The Margaret (Berkeley) who died after 4 May 1320 was the daughter of Thomas and Joan (Ferrers) Berkeley, not Thomas and Joan (Somery) Berkeley. I could not find an existing WikiTree profile for Margaret, dau. of Thomas & Joan Ferrers. Richardson has their dau. Margaret as married 1st "shortly before 7 Feb. 1283/4 Thomas Fitz Maurice, Keeper of Ireland..."

A profile was created today for Margaret, daughter of Thomas de Berkeley and Joan Ferrers. Thanks for your 6-year patience!

Removing death year for this Margaret due to the conflation of the 2 Margarets.
