Daughters of the American Revolution
Michel Bergeron is a DAR Patriot Ancestor, A216767.

Michel was born around 1736, after the census taken that year at Rivière Saint-Jean. [1][2] He was the son of Michel Bergeron dit D'Amboise and Marie Dugas.

Michel married Madeleine Bourg[3] around 1759, in Acadie. [1][4]

They appeared with 2 children on a list of prisoners at Rivière Saint-Jean dated 12 August 1763. [5] According to historian André-Carl Vachon, they sought refuge in Canada, Nouvelle-France in 1764, like many of the Acadian families on that list. They were in Kamouraska on 5 August 1764 when their daughter Marie Rose was baptized. On 13 March 1765, Madeleine was godmother to Jean Francois Bergeron in Kamouraska. By 1766 they were residing in Bécancour where their son François was baptized. [6]

Children: [4][7]

  1. Marie Madeleine Bergeron b. abt 1763
  2. Unknown Bergeron, b. before 1763 census
  3. Marie Rose Bergeron[8]
  4. François Bergeron
  5. Théotiste Bergeron
  6. Michel Bergeron
  7. Marguerite Bergeron[9][10]
  8. Marie Louise Bergeron

He passed away on January 3, 1832 and was buried January 4, 1832 in St-Grégoire-le-Grand (Nicolet).[11]

He served as an Ensign of the militia for the [American] rebels (DeMarce 61).

On Saturday, June 15, 1776 at Bécancour...after gathering and verifying our information, we have called forth in the presence of the entire parish:

Joseph Levasseur
Chs Provanché
Larant Tourigny
Pierre Cormier dit Perot
François Bourque
Michel Bergeront

We demanded the commissions that each had received in their respective roles as militia officers following the election that a parish assembly held in obedience to the rebels’ orders. ...we condemned the six alleged officers named above [12].

I removed Marguerite B ourg-328 as she was not his wife. His correct wife and children are all noted as documented by PRDH.

I have removed Augustin Bergeron as the father of this profile as he never had children with Marie Jeanne Dugas.

What is the source for Michel being the child of Augustin?
