Biography

David Bentley, son of William Bentley and Phebe Paine, was born on 10 March 1790 in Troy, Rensselaer county, New York.

David wed Lydia Button on 30 August 1821 in Madison county, Illinois. ^[1] They had the following children:

1. George Washington Bentley, 1822 – 1870;
2. Amanda Bentley, 1825 – 1899;
3. William Bentley, 1828 – 1880;
4. Jasper Bentley, 1830 –1 840;
5. Lydia Bentley, 1830 – 1840;
6. Martha Bentley, 1836 – 1855;
7. Elisha Bentley, 1838 – 1902.

In 1850 David Bentley is recorded as being sixty years of age and living in Macoupin county, Illinois. ^[2]

David Bentley died on 1 March 1852 in Macoupin County, Illinois and was buried at Wayne Cemetery in Worchester, Macoupin, Illinois. ^[3]
