My late paternal grandfather, Carl L. Bennett, was big into genealogy. He got me started with his mail order "World History of Bennett's, Volume I & II". Since I cracked open that book, I have been searching and searching for my lineage. I learned that my maternal grandmother was Cherokee and she lived just 3 hours away. My mother had never met her, as she left when she was 2 years old. That re-connection caused me to keep digging. I want the same for others.
Over the years, I have had a membership to Ancestry.com, MyHeritage.com, and other websites that aren't free. None of those websites made an efficient use of their sites, but instead charged for every little thing. I found this site to be quite useful and mostly easy to navigate. I am still learning, but it is worth the effort! I fully support this site and the method behind it.
Oh, I am also a member of findagrave.com. If anyone needs anything in the Kansas City, MO area, please let me know. I will do my absolute best to provide headstone photos when requested. To request something, leave me a message here or go to the find-a-grave website (http://www.findagrave.com/cgi-bin/fg.cgi?page=mr&MRid=48184998&MSid=48184998&).
