James Bendall was born in the Colony of South Australia (1836-1900)

James Bendall was born on 14 Feb 1853 in Prospect Village, Adelaide, South Australia. He is the son of William Henry Bendall and Ann Pike.

James married Caroline Brighton the daughter of John and Mary Brighton on 16 Dec 1875 in the Wesleyan Parsonage, North Adelaide, South Australian colony. James and Caroline had 3 children:

1. Eleanor Mabel (Bendall) Hunter (1876-1962)
2. William George Bendall (1877-1951)
3. Winnifred May Bendall (1879-1881)
