DEATH OF AN AGED LADY

Mrs. M. B. C. Smith of Monticello, mother of J. L. Dickinson of Manchester, formerly of Dubuque, and aunt to Mrs. F. S. Dunham, of Monticello, died in this city, on Monday at the age of 85 years. She was one of the earliest settlors in Iowa. Settled in the city of Dubuque when it was a mere village, and lived there many years. Latterly she lived in Monticello, with her daughter, Miss Emily Smith. Although she was almost totally blind and could not read a letter or a newspaper, she wrote very entertaining letters to her friends, and with an almost elegant precision in her penmanship. A premonition told her the end was at hand, and for months before her death she worked unremittingly writing farewell letters and making farewell quilts which she sent to her friends as mementos of herself. She was married three times; and eight of her sons are worthy and useful members of society."

Bellows-405 and Bellows-378 appear to represent the same person because: they share the same birth / death information, and their spouses are duplicate profiles of one another.
