Biography

William was born about 1793 at Eccles Berwickshire in southern Scotland. He married Isabella Thompson Clazie (also written Claisie, Claizie, Clazy, etc.) in 1851. The marriage record was oddly worded:

William Bell, of the parish of Coldingham, and Isabella Thomson Claizie, of the parish of Eyemouth, were duly proclaimed in Eyemouth Church on the Twenty-third day of February & on the 2nd & 9th days of March, Eigthteen Hundred & Fifty-one years & were married on the Tenth day of March by the Rev. Wm. Anderson.

They had at least two children together: Agnes, born in 1852 and Janet, born in 1856. They were found in the 1851 & 1861 UK censuses at Eyemouth.

William passed away at Eyemouth in 1863, exact date not found.
