Biography

Jan was born IJzendijke on November 16, 1722, a son of Abraham Bekaar and Josina de Koning. He was baptised in IJzendijke on November 22, 1722. Jan married Sara van der Baan, a daughter of Jacobus van der Baan and Catharina Ferreman in IJzendijke on December 21, 1755. He died in IJzendijke on December 30, 1766.

Birth

No record of birth was found. A handwritten genealogy of the Bekaar family, compiled in 1913, puts the Date of Birth on November 16, 1722 and places the birth in IJzendijke (see sources below).

Baptism

Jan was baptised in the Nederlands Hervormde Kerk in IJzendijke on November 22, 1722. Name of child: Jan. Father: Abraham Bekaar. Mother: Josijna de Konink. Date of baptism: November 22, 1722[1].

Marriage

The record of the marriage between Jan and Sara van der Baan was destroyed during WWII. A handwritten genealogy of the Bekaar familiy, compiled in 1913, mentions the wedding in IJzendijke on December 21, 1755 (see sources below). We find confirmation of the fact that Jan and Sara were spouses in the record of death of their son Abraham: Jan and Sara were listed as parents[2].

Death

The record of death or burial of Jan was destroyed during WWII. A handwritten genealogy of the Bekaar family, compiled in 1913, states that Jan died in IJzendijke on December 30, 1766, and was buried there on January 5, 1770 (see sources below).
