In 1861 he was still living in Amble, St Kew, Cornwall, England, a retired grocer, living with his long time servant, 64 year old Ann Weber and niece 17 year old Eliza Beer[5]
He was still living in Amble when he died in 1881, age 86, buried at St Kew, Cornwall, England, United Kingdom, 04 Feb 1881[6]
