Subsequently the area was settled by John Haynes and others and the Indian Stream Republic was formed (1785-1842) in the area that is now Pittsburgh, New Hampshire. Moody Bedel's son John Bedel was a Brigadier General of volunteers during the American Civil War. Bedel lived in Bath, New Hampshire between 1769 and 1775.
