Birth
Maria was born in 1842 in Combe, Oxfordshire[1] She was the daughter of Robert Beckley and his wife Mary (nee Eaton).
Marriage
Levi Long and Maria Beckley were married in Church Hanborough, Oxfordshire on 3rd October 1871[2]. They were bachelor and spinster, both of full age and living in Hanborough. Levi was a labourer and the son of Mark Long who was a carpenter. Maria was a gloveress and only stated of her father that he was deceased. Levi signed his own name on the register whilst Maria could only make her mark with a cross. The witnesses to the marriage were William Long and Ann Long[3].
