BEAZLEY-TAPLIN.-On April 26. 1939, at the Methodist Church, Rabaul Territory, New Guinea, by the Rev. H. Pearson, BA., Sydney Colin, third son of Mr. and Mrs. A. Beasley, of Mosman Park, to Olive Beryl, younger daughter of the late Mr. H. L. and Mrs. Taplin, of Kalamunda.[1]

The Weekly Gazette (Goomalling, WA), Fri 09 Nov 1945, p.1

Those in Goomalling who recall Syd Beazley have learned with sadness that he was among those who lost their lives while a prisoner-of-war aboard the prison ship, Montevideo Maru, in June, 1942. Coming to Goomalling first in association with Mr. H. H. Gribble, the late Syd Beazley later engaged for a short time in carpentering locally, leaving in 1937 when he accepted a post with the Methodist Mission at Rabaul, New Britain, to work among the natives and ply his trade of carpenter. He was a brother of Mr. Kim Beazley, M.H.R., and left a widow and small daughter. His wife was formerly Miss Beryl Taplin, also known in Goomalling.[2]
