William was the son of William Beauchamp and Ida Longespée.[1] He was born no later than 1231.[1]
His wife was called Amice. They had no children. She died a little before 10 January 1277/1278/[1]
He fought in Wales in 1254 and Gascony in 1257.[1]
In 1257 his father obtained a licence to bestow on him the barony of Bedford.[2]
William died on 20 August 1262.[1][3] It was said that his death was due to poison.[3]
