He was killed in action on 10/21/1918 during the Allied Meuse Argonne Offensive of World War One, just twenty-one days before the guns fell silent "on the eleventh hour of the eleventh day of the eleventh month", Armistice Day.
Pvt. Beardsley had been originally interred in the Meuse-Argonne American World War I cemetery in France, located east of the village of Romagne-sous-Montfaucon, Meuse. His remains were dis-interred to be returned to the United States and re-interred in Arlington National Cemetery on October 20, 1921. [1]
