It seems unlikely that the wedding of Gregory and Margaret took place in Braintree in 1631 when Braintree wasn't colonized until 1635. Roxbury, where Gregory Baxter settled, seems to be a much more likely wedding location. Are there any records which confirm either site?
posted by Timothy Bishop
The biography says his children were born at Roxbury and that he came to Braintree in 1640.

Anybody have a source supporting the marriage at Roxbury? possibly married Margaret as 2nd marriage in Braintree? See bio.

Also, I don't think we need that big gold notice at the top. PGM usually does a = Disputed Origins = paragraph.

This profile's biography is the result of merges that were not cleaned up and the bio was not integrated. Anybody have the time to update?

oops, I see that this profile is managed by two projects. If the U.S. Presidents Project wishes to leave the large yellow notice at the top, that is ok with PGM.

It is my desire to collaborate when more than one project manages a profile.

The US Presidents Project sources only indicate that he was made a freeman of the Roxbury Mar.6,1631/2, and that he moved to Braintree around 1640. No marriage record has been found.

Thank you for taking good care of the profile! I just wanted to add that info in case it does have value, since a descendent has claimed this is valid thru family records.

Cynthia, those parents are not known to be correct and we would need much better sources to establish the English origins of Gregory Baxter. It is extremely unlikely that the a member of the Winthrop fleet settling in Roxbury, Massachusetts in 1631 was born in Edinburgh, Scotland, to the point of the odds approaching zero. The precise birth dates and place which you added is not known to be correct.

Unless new information has been published, the profile follows the research found in Anderson's Great Migration Begins vol. 1 (1995): page 138.
