Willie Battle, Jr. was born on December 16, 1945 in Mound Bayou, Bolivar, Mississippi, United States, son of Willie Battle (~1914–1981) and Doris Viola Hunter (1924–2009).^[1]

Willie married Nichola Royster about 1968 or 1969. They had one son, Shawn Anthony Battle.^[2], b. Oct 1969^[3]

Willie enlisted in the Army on 15 Apr 1968. He was discharged on 4 Apr 1971.^[4]

Willie died on 4 Oct 1978 in Memphis, Shelby, Southwest Territory, aged 32.^[5]

Willie's headstone application for military veterans was made on on 4 April 1971. Cemetery location is Beautiful Star Cemetery in Mound Bayou, Mississippi.^[6]
