Biography

1889 jul 13 Louise Alexandra Marie Irène Battenberg born at Schloss Heiligenberg[1][2]. Her father was Ludvig von Battenberg and her mother Victoria of Hessen, one of Queen Victoria of England's granddaughters[3][4]. She was born at the castle in Heidelberg but grew up in England.[5].

1921 nov 3 Louise married the crown prince Gustav Adolf of Sweden - his second marriage[3][4][5]. He had 5 children from his first marriage[1].

1950 oct 30 after the death of king Gustav V, Louise became the queen of Sweden as her husband became the king of Sweden.[3]

The queen suffered from breast cancer and had several operations. In spite of this she followed her husband on his Eriksgata around the country.[3]

1965 mar 7 Louise passed away in 1965[3][4][6].
