Pauline was born at Camperdown Hospital in Sydney NSW. She was brought up in the Guildford/Merrylands area of Sydney. Attended Merrylands East Infant School and then Merrylands Primary School until high school. She then attended Auburn Girls High School and graduated at 6th form (year 12) and gained a scholarship to attend Westmead Teachers College. After graduating, she taught for three years during which she married Chris Jones. Gaining a Cadetship for further study at Sydney University she successfully completed a post graduate course to become a teacher of the deaf. After 14 years in this position and two children later she again won another Cadetship to complete a masters degree in Deafness and Communication studies at Macquarie University. She taught deaf and hard of hearing students for many years before returning to mainstream teaching until her retirement in 2018. Since retirement she has continued researching her family as family history is one of her passions.
