Biography

Pvt Daniel Bastine Jr served in the United States Civil War.
Enlisted: November 4, 1864
Mustered out: June 27, 1865

OBITUARY Daniel C. Bastine was born in Lawrence county,, N. Y. May. 7, 1825, and died at his home in this city Nov. 22, of heart failure. He had been an esteemed citizen of Menomonie for 16 years. During the Civil war he served in the 106th New York regiment and was honorably discharged June 27, 1865. He married Miss Mirian Wilcox Dec. 10, 1846, who died June 16, 1880. They had four children, two of whom survive Mrs. Sara Thomas and Mrs. E. M. Pierce of California. Mr. Bastine came to Menomonie in 1889 and married Miss Laura Butrick May 14, of the same year, who with their only child, Paul W., survive to mourn the loss of husband and father. At an early age he became a Christian and always endeavored to serve God faithfully.! For fifteen years he was a member of the First Baptist church of this city., The funeral was held Nov. 25, Rev. Miller conducting the service, assisted ,by Revs. Sullivan and Dewey. j[1]
