Dutch Barlow dies as car hits bridge
Marysville Car Salesman is fatally injured East of town Friday Night.

Walter "Dutch" Barlow, 36, Marysville automobile salesman, was fatally injured about 9:30 o'clock Friday night when his car struck an abutment of a bridge on highway US 36 about 2 1/2 miles east of Marysville. He died at a local hospital an hour after the accident.
Mr Barlow had been in Kansas City with Vern Leupold buying used cars and was retuning to Marysville when the accident happened. Leupold was following several miles behind Mr Barlow and came upon he cane of the accident about half an hour later.
Car is badly wrecked. Closely followed for about 10 miles by Dr. A.F. Wempe, the Below car suddenly swerved to the left and crash into the bride abutment near the Ed Munzel farm. Dr Wempe immediately sought the aid of a doctor and the sheriff. He said Mr Barlow had not been driving fast. Sherriff Harry P Heleker expressed the belief that the driver momentarily dozed. The ar was one of the most badly damaged ever seen in Marysville. The engine was pushed through the cowl into the front seat, which collapsed and crumpled back. The radiator was shoved immediately under the cowl. After striking the southeast abutment, the car fell right side up onto the creek bank about ten feet below.
Widely known Salesman Mr Barlow suffered a fractured skull, chest injuries, broken right leg and broken left arm.
Dutch Barlow was one of the most widely known men in Marysville. The Crhistian church, where his funeral services were conducted Tuesday afternoon, was unable to hold the great crowd of mourners who attended and the flowers sent by friends baked the casket and pulpit. The Rev. E.L. Skinner conducted the services. Burial was in Riverside Cemetery, Watertown.
Native of Waterville Walter Robert Bartlow was born April 15, 1902 at Waterville and attended the public schools there. He was graduated from Waterville high school in 1921. At the age of 15 years he was baptized and became a member of the Christian Church.
He married Miss Erma Bledsoe, Greenleaf, on April 15, 1929, and since that time they made their home in Marysville, where Mr Bartlow was an automobile salesman.
