David Andrew Barringer was born on August 23, 1794 in Lincoln, North Carolina, United States, son of Mathias Barringer (1767–1844) and Catherine Hass (~1770– ).^[1]

David (25) married Catherine Fry (24) (born on December 23, 1795 in Lincoln; daughter of Johannes Jacob Fry and Elizabeth (Shook) Frey) on October 3, 1820 in Catawba co. North Carolina.^{[2] [3][4]} Their first-born child, Rosana (1823-1830) died in childhood.

In the 1870 census David (age 75) was the head of household in Caldwell Township, Catawba, North Carolina, United States.^[5]

David died on March 23, 1884 in Catawba County, North Carolina, aged 89.^{[6] [1]} He was buried in Old Haas Cemetery, Newton, North Carolina.
