"In 1805 Jonathan Barrett, from VA, bought out Nathaniel Pope, on Hardin's Creek and settled there. His brother Richard, and his brother-in-law Henry Cowgill, came with him. Richard settled on Fall Creek, near the farm known as the old Fairley Place, Cowgill settled in the same neighborhood." "Oct 1808-Richard Barrett elected clerk for Board of Com-missioners."
