Biography

Sir Francis Layland-Barratt was a member of Parliament from 1900 to 1910 for Torquay and from 1915 to 1918 for St. Austell. ^[1] He was born in Cornwall, England to parents Francis Barratt Jr. and Anna Michele Bennetts. He was christened on September 26, 1860 in St. Austell. ^[2] The family was living at "Watering Hill" in St. Austell, Cornwall and his father's occupation was recorded as "agent for copper miners"^[3]

Francis married a woman named Frances Layland, and they had four children, Dorothea, Petronel, Francis and Frances. In 1891 they were found living in Chelsea, London with daughters, Dorothea and Petronel. Francis's occupation was recorded as "Councillor For Cornwall" ^[4]

Sir Francis died in 1933 in Devon, England, ^[5] and was buried on September 12, 1933 in St Mewan, Cornwall Unitary Authority, Cornwall, England. ^[6]
