Cuthbert Michael Barnier was born on January 22, 1906 in Grafton, New South Wales, Australia. He was the son of George Barnier and Victoria O'Connor.[1]
Barnier was investigated after involvement in a motor accident with James Wratten and Maud Thompson, involving the death of the former, on July 20, 1939.[2] He was charged with alleged dangerous driving, however the court concluded that a flattened tire was perhaps the cause of the accident and that Barnier had suffered enough, therefore dismissing the case.[3]
He enlisted in the Australian Army on January 16, 1941 at Paddington (Service # NX67387). Cuthbert served as a driver for the Headquarters 27th Infantry Brigade until his discharge on June 21, 1946. He was a prisoner of war in Malaysia during his service.[4]
Cuthbert married Eunice Newby on April 21, 1941 in Grafton.[5]
He passed away on July 26, 1966 in Grafton.[6]
