The GEDCOM does not automatically populate your tree. It generates a GEDCOMpare report which you work through, either accepting or rejecting all suggested matches. Once that has been done, you should see add buttons for each of the remaining names.
You can find your gedcom file by logging into Wikitree, going to your profile then using the my Wikitree drop down menu, clicking on "gedcoms". The gedcompare page has more details: https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Space:Current_GEDCOMpare_Process

The GEDCOMpare process guide has tips on how to use the data in your file most efficiently.
For those using Chrome, Opera, or Firefox browsers, there is a tool that can help with the formatting of profiles that have been created through GEDCOM, so that you can concentrate on the research. You can read more about it in the WikiTree AGC FAQ.
I hope you enjoy WikiTree as much as I have. You never know when you will find a lost family member or ancestor. Or maybe find a hidden family secret about an ancestor.
