Biography

The son of David Barker and Alice (Green) Barker, William Barker was born in Macedon, New York^[1] in 1890, residing there with his family.^[2][3]

William married Clara Martha Wilkinson (1894-1981), the daughter of John Wilkinson and Jane Flagler, marrying in Wayne County, New York on February 10, 1914^[4] and having one son together, Donald L. Barker (1923-1940). They made their home in Macedon Township, farming.^[5]

William registered for the World War I draft when he was 26, registering in Wayne County, New York on June 5, 1917.^[6] He affirmed that he lived in Macedon Township and stated that he worked for himself, farming. William was described as a slightly bald man, of medium height and build, with light brown hair and dark blue eyes. He did not enlist and continued to reside with his family in Macedon Township.^[7][8]

William registered for the World War II draft when he was 51, registering in Lyons, New York on April 27, 1942.^[9] He stated that he lived and farmed in MacedonTownsip, and was described as 5'10" tall and 170 pounds. He did not enlist and, by 1950, he had retired to Florida, residing in Polk City.^[10]

William Barker passed away in Polk County, Florida^[11] at the age of 78 and is buried at at Macedon Center Cemetery in Macedon Center, New York, where his parents and siblings are buried.^[12]
