Sergeant Solon Barber was a Prisoner of War during United States Civil War.
Mr. Solon Barber, a brother of the late Joel Barber and of Mrs. Elizabeth Beckwith, died at Augusta, Wis., Wednesday morning. He has many aquaintances among , the older residents of this city having lived here in the sixties. He was a soldier in the Rebellion and a prosperous and respected citizen of the town in which he lived.[1]
Solon Barber, a well known pioneer of Eau Claire county, passed away yesterday morning at his home in the town of Bridge Creek, near Augusta. The news of the death came as a shock to the many friends in Eau Claire, although it was thought the end was near…[2]
BARBER, SOLON.—Age, 26 years. Enlisted, August 9, 1862, at Massena, to serve three years; mustered in as private, Co . F, August 27, 1862; captured in action and paroled, April 29, 1863, at Fairmont, Va . ; promoted sergeant, February 6, 1865; mustered out with company, June 22, 1865, near Washington, D.C.[5]
